ABOUT US

York Health Services is owned and operated by Carl and Lisa York. Please
read to get to know a little bit about us.

Carl D. York, RMT

Carl graduated from Northumberland College with an Honours Diploma
in Massage Therapy. Upon graduation he was presented with the award
for Clinical Excellence and Professionalism for the class of 2002.

Prior to his Massage Therapy diploma Carl attended Dalhousie University
where he played for the Dalhousie Tigers Men’s soccer team while
studying in the Bachelor of Science Health Education program.

He has continued his education with extensive training in Myofascial
Release through the John F. Barnes International Myofascial Release
Seminars in the United States. He went on to become an Instructor for
John F. Barnes' International Myofascial Release Seminars teaching in
Canada and the United States. He has also taught at the Canadian College
of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Bedford as an Assistant Instructor for
classes in Orthopaedic Assessment and Anatomy Palpation, and as a
Clinical Instructor in the General Teaching Clinic, Neurological Outreach
Clinic, and Chronic Pain Outreach Clinic.

Carl is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Osteopathy from the
Canadian College of Osteopathy. He has passed the examinations
granting him entry into the 4th year of study. He will complete 5 years
of study in total followed by a research thesis.

Carl is a member of the Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia
(MTANS) and a student member of the Ontario Association of Osteopaths
(OAO). He has also served as a Student Representative to the Board of the
Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths.

Lisa M. York, MA

Lisa graduated in 1998 from Herzing College in Winnipeg,
MB, with a diploma as a Medical Office
Assistant. She has worked in a variety of
health care settings including doctor’s offices,
clinics and the hospital in Coronary Care.

Lisa is the Medical Office Manager of
York Health Services.

Carl and Lisa are very excited to be opening York Health Services
together in their home town of Eastern Passage. Both Carl and Lisa grew
up in the community and now live in Cow Bay with their three sons.
